A family musical comedy based on one of the world's favourite fairy-tales, Hans Christian Andersen's The Ugly Duckling. Ugly is born, of course, as a Duckling but it soon becomes clear that he is no ordinary Duck. Mocked on the farmyard, pursued by the ever-hungry Cat, Ugly finds himself lost on a nearby marsh in the middle of a duck-shoot and embarks on an odyssey through the countryside, meeting a battery of colourful characters and finding himself, and love, along the way.

We will have a busy rehearsal schedule and we want to encourage team work so we really need everyone to attend all rehearsals for which they are called. A draft rehearsal schedule will be available at the auditions (and hopefully the preaudition informal) and you will be asked to indicate any known absences. We will also need a team effort for the set building days. Parents/Grown ups of younger cast members will be committing to volunteer to help in some way. Non members are very welcome to audition and if cast will have to become members of GST

This will be a fun show and there will be no (well virtually no!) animal costumes. We will use our imagination to create the idea of the characters with tee-shirts, caps and other everyday (or special) clothing. All ideas considered. Although good singers are welcomed and encouraged, even if you feel there is room for improvement in your singing (your opinion or others!) please do still come along as Stiofan may like what he hears and we need various characters. All solos are in a comfortable middle range. Some songs can be almost talk sung and we are hoping to have a backing group to add to the overall atmosphere on stage. Some roles can be doubled up (or more) so we may not audition for all the characters but this will depend on who comes along.

Rehearsals will be Sundays 3 - 6 pm for all; Tuesdays and Wednesdays 8 - 10:30 pm for adults
